About Us

Sirka Sie, born into a German-Chinese family, received her formal training in Germany to become a certified chef. Upon returning to Canada and opening a restaurant with her brother her interest in baking grew and she became skilled at breadmaking and pastry. She was inspired by her own grandmother who owned and operated a home-style German restaurant in Stuttgart from the 30s to the 70s. Growing up in a blended household, she also learned much about Chinese and Indonesian cooking, and uses her knowledge in many of her most popular dishes. Her mother and father always cooked, and nurtured a family in which food was the language of love.
Sirka has been working in the Stratford restaurant scene for over 20 years, and in doing so, has amassed a dedicated following for her baking and cooking. She has made her mark at many of your favourite restaurants and shops, while creating space for many other chefs and cooks to learn and grow in the industry. This mother hen is truly a mom to all, and will feed you with the most love-filled food. Her hard work and integrity have inspired many young men and women to strive for greatness, and her food is absolutely something to write home about!
Mikko Till, daughter of Sirka, has dreamed of opening up a shop since she can remember. After studying Neuroscience at the Univeristy of Guelph, she realized her heart truly lies in food and service. Afterall, she grew up in a home where food was the reason for celebration! She has learened most of what she knows through her own family as well, her mother teaching her the art of dumpling wrapping and cookie baking at a very young age; her mentors from past jobs have further improved her cooking, management, and service skills so she can now create a space to call her own.
Mikko has worked in many businesses in the Downtown core, so it's likely that you've seen her slinging ice cream or whipping up bowls at expert speed. Through her interactions with guests at various locations, she has become passionate about connection to the community. Love where you live, and you'll never get bored. Love where you work, and you'll never get tired. Pop by, say "Hi!", and she'll be sure to make your experience at The Little Kitchen a warm one.

Ziggy Stardust. The man, the myth, the legend. The dog behind it all. If you have walked by the shop prior to our opening, you will have seen his little face peering out at you! Always down for a chin scratch and a piece of The Hounddog, this baby keeps the team happy and laughing all the time. If you stop by early enough in the day, you might catch him getting his morning walk around the shop.
